Network South East, Thames & Chiltern division, arranged for Class 50 loco, 50034 (D434) to visit Quainton on the August Bank Holiday Monday in 1990. The locomotive was on display, running, in Platform 1 for the Open Day.

50034 was later scrapped in the following February at Old Oak Common. Further details, including some very sad photos of 50034 being scrapped, can be found at the WNXX website.
