Originally numbered B950048, this brake van is based on an LMS design and has LMS axle boxes.  One of 125 built to this lot, B950048 has vacuum brake through piping only.  It became DB950048 in August 1982 on transfer to departmental service.

Transported by road from Bescot, the van arrived at Quainton on 22nd June 1993.  Since arrival it has had a new canvas roof, running boards and a repaint, reverting to its original number.
