Arriving during 2003, along with its partner WGB4162, from one of the last batches of short wheel base wagons produced. Purchased from the Army's Central Ordnance Depot Military Railway at Bicester, its TOPS classification is VJX. It was built as No. 23136, at British Rail, Wolverton, renumbered WGB4018 in military service. A short wheel base van, it is fitted with air brakes, and various other relatively modern features. An interesting feature is that its brake has two positions on the brake changeover mechanism, namely for goods (g. position) and passenger (p. position). This makes the brakes go on more quickly when attached to a passenger train. Both vehicles are in very good condition, and will be repainted in grey livery. One is destined to be located after restoration in the Cattle Dock. The other vehicle is only intended to be at Quainton for a short period. |
