WGF 8118 was built during the Second World War for carrying battle tanks. Several of these vehicles could be joined together, and the tanks with their caterpillar tracks could drive along the whole length over the buffers. 8118 was received from the nearby Central Ordance Depot's Military Railway at Bicester in 2002. It will be very useful for carrying engineering materials, such as sleepers for permanent way work, plus any spare tanks we may have! |
