The 1975 Quainton Photographic Competition

Congratulations to the winners of our 2nd Competition and our thanks to Mr Les Elsey of Eastleigh for judging the entries.

The first prize for the black and white section was awarded to our Treasurer! Andrew Bratton's picture of Brill in steam at the front of the restoration building was the judge's choice as No. 1. The second prize was for John Bennett's entry titled Swanscombe - a new locomotive.

The colour slide prizes were both earned by the camera work of Reg and Janice Uphill; the first for a transparency of their Chislet arriving at Quainton in the snow and the second a tranquil picture of Claydon station on the Bletchley to Oxford line.

The number of entries in both sections was lower than hoped for but the quality was well up to standard. In 1976 we will include a section for colour prints because these are so popular. Please keep your camera loaded when you are at Quainton and be ready for that scoop which will win the next Competition!
