Congratulations to the Quainton Railway Society on achieving forty years in railway preservation, growing from humble beginings to the impressive Buckinghamshire Railway Centre heritage railway and museum we are today, despite more than a few setbacks along the way.

I have tried to put together an edition of QN that is worthy of this auspicious occasion. Lots of early photographs have come to light, thanks to those who have taken the time to search their collection and pass them on to me. I have used as many of them as I can and will use those that don't feature this time in later editions. These pictures, which I believe will be new to the majority of us, record the impressive collection we now have much better than any words can.

Notes:
The text in this Quainton Railway Society publication was written in 2009 and so does not reflect events in the 10+ years since publication. The text and photographs are repeated verbatim from the original publication, with only a few minor grammar changes but some clarifying notes are added if deemed necessary. The photos from the original publication are provided as scans in this internet version of this long out of print publication.
