Contract repairs to diesel locomotives

The QRS was contacted during 2008 by a contractor based in Newcastle on Tyne to see if we could assist in the repair and overhaul of 3 diesel shunting locomotives. We have been keen to develop this aspect of our business for some time and this appeared to be an ideal way to "dip our toe in the water".

We have already carried out a small amount of work for this contractor, and they have been happy with the work carried out.

Following much discussion with the contractor, the first locomotive has been delivered to Quainton. This locomotive has run a hot box on the front axle, which we are to remove and affect repair as required. There are other minor tasks that are required and these were outlined in a meeting held before Christmas.
