Farewell to the Ivatt Trust Locomotives
![]() Photo: |
"D Day", 6th June, was the date of the ceremony held at Haven Street to officially hand over the Ivatt Trust's locomotives to the Isle of Wight Steam Railway, during a member's only day. QRS and IoWSR member, Alan Gosling, was on hand to capture the event. To mark the formal transfer Ivatt Trust Trustees Roy Miller and Peter Clarke gave the locos' builders plates to Chairman Steve Oates and Manager Peter Vall. In return, they each received a commemorative picture depicting how 2-6-2T locos 41298 and 41313 will look when they are restored and in service. Loco 46447 will be cosmetically restored only [Note 1]. Hunslet 0-6-0ST Austerity No. 3850 Juno was also transferred, leaving the BRC on Friday 22nd May 2009. It was one of the founding locomotives of the QRS but has been out of ticket and stored since the early 70s. Considering that the IoWSR has no firm plans for the loco it is a great pity that it could not have remained at Quainton. |
