Two spooky days at Quainton Road - Sheila Lobley
|
On Wednesday 27th and Sunday October 31st, visitors to Quainton Road found the Visitor Centre and Passenger Train transformed into a spooky atmosphere - with visiting Wizards, Witches, and live Owls - and to cap it all, real excitement when a "certain man in red" called in on Halloween Sunday! The witches read spooky stories to the children (and their parents!) in the Cinema Coach, and visitors were able to hold a beautiful Barn Owl called Spook on their (gloved) hand. Father Christmas had asked if he could visit to check how children were behaving themselves and to have a look around the Centre prior to his visits over the first three weekends in December! Santa arrived by a very busy train, visiting everyone during their ride before walking with the Wizards and Witches to the Visitor Centre to judge the Children's Fancy Dress Competition. It was great to receive the support of some of our Volunteers, who added tons of atmosphere with their "Spooky" Dress - it was great fun, the visitors praised the event and particularly our "Spooky Visitors" (other members were impressed, too!) I would like to say thank you to those who helped out with decorating the Centre the previous week (and 'un-decorating' the following week!) and for their support and encouragement on both days. I hope many more of you will be encouraged to attend in Fancy Dress next Halloween! |
