The coaches continue to be very popular with our visitors (young and old) with many coming to Quainton specifically to view the insides and to 'have a go' at sorting the mail, and we have recruited at least two new members who have joined the stewarding team. The youngsters especially have great fun sorting the letters into the appropriate slots, often having a competition with their friends or siblings. This is one of the few 'hands-on' activities that we have at the Centre, which is probably why it is so popular. We have acquired some additional material for the Great Train Robbery display which will be worked on during the closed season, together with railway stamps and TPO covers, many of which have been donated by our visitors. The roof of the stowage van still desperately needs repair, and we are ever optimistic that this will receive attention under cover over winter!! Our final opening this year was on October 31st. Why not come along in 2011 and visit us especially if you have not been before. Do consider helping either as a steward, or work on preparing displays, or repairing the coach roof? You will be very welcome. |
