An Evening at Wycombe
Another 'first'; an open meeting for everyone to enjoy! Peter Hoskings was in the Chair, and with Fred Poynter and Jim Clark made a great success of an evening at Bassetsbury Manor, High Wycombe on 14th October. They organised it to make the Society better known to the public and to increase our membership. The audience was 70 strong when guest speaker Anthea Hanscomb opened the show by outlining the history of the QRS and the railways in the Quainton area. Cine and slides followed the talk and Dave Dunbar and Ted Rogers were the projectionists. Fred, in his capacity as our museum curator brought some small relics to display and there were maps, photographs, signalling equipment and refreshments to absorb. Peter sums up the evening by saying that everyone left in a happy mood after an instructive and enjoyable evening. If members in other towns would like to organise a similar meeting they should mention it first to a member of the Executive Committee. |
