News In Brief
Chris Britten has bought an 'Edwardian Motorail' van! It is a North Western motor car truck for use in passenger trains and was originally painted in the carmine lake and white livery and this is how it will be restored when it arrives at Quainton from Wolverton.
A four wheeled diesel from Tarmac Roadstone Ltd, Hayes, will soon be at Quainton. It is F C Hibberd & Co's No. 3765 and was built in 1955. Regular travellers on the Great Western main line from Paddington will remember the engine which could usually be seen from the train on the up side near Hayes.
The 1974 Annual General Meeting of the Society will be held at the Sea Scouts Hall, in front of the Friarage Hall, Aylesbury on 23rd March. As soon as you have got your '74 diary make a special note of the date because there is always a bumper programme of railway interest in addition to the short business session.
Mr W G Akerman, our member from Birkbeck Hill, London SE21 8JS, has advised us of a trio of meetings to be held at Fred Tarrant Hall, 153 Drummond Street, London NW1, at 7 pm 28th January, 25th February and 4th March. The evenings will be devoted to colour films and will feature steam railways on the first date, trolleybuses on the second and trams on the third. The proceeds will be towards the restoration of The Doll at the Leighton Buzzard, Cardiff trolleybus 262 and 'Feltham' tram 331. Refreshments will be available.
