The great slew-day was on Tuesday, 5th July. Soon after 11 o'clock a Class 25 diesel locomotive left Aylesbury with the latest consignment of rolling stock for Quainton. There were four vans next to the engine to avoid it having to trespass onto our tracks as the shunting movement was carried out, followed by the BSK S34947, (Met Camm 1956), the LMS Sleeping Car 592, latterly DM 395922, (Derby 1933), the LNWR Brake Third 22736, latterly TDM 395209, (Wolverton 1921 ), the CK M15319, (Derby 1953), the SK E24993, (Derby 1956) and a goods brake van. Passengers in the LNWR were proud owner drivers John Parsons and Chris Britten. Passengers in the goods brake van were the Assistant Freight Manager and the Local Area Manager. The whole operation went very smoothly. The platelayers are becoming experts at the job of connecting and severing us from the main line. Perhaps they will make it a permanent link one day!
