Seven years ago, when I took over the job of Editor from John Hutchings, I started my Editorial with best wishes for a Happy New Year to you all. It seems to me that these good wishes should be re-echoed in 1978 when we are facing another challenging year at Quainton. The problems are different than in 1971 when we were working hard to establish out position at our new depot. Many of our dreams of those early years have come true. Even the appeal for a BR Standard Mk I Coach in the December 1970 issue of the Newsletter, (as it was then called), has been successful! We became a Charity at the end of 1970 and the hard work put in by Roy and Peter preparing for the registration of the Society should never be forgotten. Now we have been examining our organisation once again to test it against the requirements of 1978. Seven years ago an Operations Committee was formed under David Glennie's independent Chairmanship and we have continued to grow and develop under a sub-committee system. Roy, our Secretary has some words to say on this subject and I have reported on the Extraordinary General Meeting on this issue. I think we should wish each other continued success at Quainton in the coming season because its a great Society we are supporting. |
