Publicity Plans - Tony Lyster
Since I took over as the Society's Publicity Officer I have found one of the most pressing needs is for photographs and I am looking for both colour and black and white stills and slides, of not only the stock at work at Quainton but also those activities not usually seen by the public such as re-wheeling a loco, re-tubing, laying track, covering a coach roof and the other restoration tasks. The photographs will be used for general publicity in publications and on display panels that I am planning. I hope there will be one panel for each Department showing the work they do. The slides will be used for making into sets for the talks that we give to other Societies. Older photographs and slides of the early days at Quainton and before, will also be most welcome as I want to build up the Society archives too. All material will, of course, be credited.
As some of you may know it has been decided to proceed with the Thames & Chilterns leaflet this year so I am, at the time of writing, producing a replacement leaflet.
At Easter this year I shall be running a survey to find out how and where our visitors come from. I shall therefore be looking for some assistance nearer the time. In conclusion I would like to thank Reg and Janice Uphill for all the publicity work they have done.
(This new Publicity Officer is after your photos too! Don't forget me! Ed.)
