9466 Locomotive Group

It is now more than fifteen years since 9466 was in steam. But the thorough overhaul being given to this sole representative of a privately preserved 94XX Pannier tank will surely bring back life and action to this locomotive before many more months. Since Dennis Howells bought it from Steve Turner, he and his friends in the 9466 Locomotive Group have stripped it down, carried out careful restoration of mechanical parts and given the whole locomotive an extremely intensive de-rusting. Now the time has arrived when painting and refitting is the order of the day. Dennis and his father would appreciate copies of any photographs members or visitors have taken of 9466, both at Quainton and when it was in British Rail service at Worcester from 1952 to 1961, at Bristol in 1961 / 62 and in South Wales until it was taken out of service in 1964. Incidentally, doesn't 9466 look like a Collett 0-6-0 in the picture above? |
