The official opening ceremony of the site under its new name Buckinghamshire Railway Centre is planned for 27th May and will include the unveiling of a commemorative plaque by a distinguished visitor. The public will be welcome to visit the Centre and we look forward to a good attendance, because it is half-term holiday at the local schools. An additional Open Day will be held on 16th August as a part of Archives' Week and the Centre will be open all the previous week for those who would like to make use of our archives for research. Aylesbury Rail Week, BR's event, will take place from 8th to 14th June and we will have a DMU running to Quainton and will, of course, be operating our internal services. Other exciting possibilities are rumoured for Aylesbury, so keep your 'ear to the ground'. This year the souvenir shop will be in the Terrapin building and there will also be a counter for the Cinema Coach fund. The Brill waiting room will become the home of an exhibition on local railways and the other half of the Terrapin building will house an Industrial Railways display and will be available for meetings. |
