Staff Training Board News - Roger Wornham
Members will no doubt be aware of the existence of the Staff Training Board and its function to train all the Society's operating staff to the highest possible standard, at least to the Department of Transport minimum requirements. The Board has attained this high standard over the past few years under the Chairmanship of Reg Uphill. Reg has now decided that the time has come to step down from the post and enjoy his retirement working on Chislet. Thank you for everything, Reg. I have been appointed by the Executive Committee to take over this difficult post and to this end I am preparing to expand the scheme to include Footplate staff, Guards, Shunters, Station Masters and Platform staff. If you would like to take part in any of these activities, I need to hear from you. There are vacancies in all departments and my fellow board members and I will endeavour to train you in your choice of occupation. If you think you may like to do something, but are not sure, I can arrange a trial day out for you with an experienced person. Contact me on site most Sundays or by leaving a note for me in the Station Master's Office. |
