This last year (1992) was not one which I shall recall with a great amount of enchantment. Sponsorship was really hard to obtain, and gifts in kind, although often promised, in several cases failed to materialize. We have had however notable support from several companies and promises of future support. We wish them well, and let us hope that the "green shoots" so vainly promised by those lofty mortals will at least materialize for we lesser beings.

The raffle this year has been dedicated to site improvements, some of which will only be noticed when things go wrong e.g. site drainage. A brief survey of these shows very clearly that neglect by us, and others, has left a significant amount of work to be done. Several hazards exist and these must be attended to before larger problems occur. Some will be overcome easily without much expenditure; others will not. I am also looking into the possibility of assistance from central funds, as well as those of more local origin. This year will also see the finalized plans for the new building on which our Curator has spent many hours of toil.

The Chairman and I, with assistance from others (members and non-members alike) are considering ways in which this building can be funded with the help of outside agencies, whose sponsorship will undoubtedly be necessary. This will not rule out gifts in kind e.g. building materials from interested parties, or assistance with labour etc. You may rest assured that all options will be considered, for it will be a Herculean task in many ways.

If you have any ideas for fund raising - they are all considered - please contact me on site or at home. Let us look forward to 1993 when we shall have further opportunities to expand our frontiers.
