Of Ashmans, Daleks and Stations ...

A warm welcome to Colin Ashman to the Board as Operations Director. Colin, (as well as the rest of (the Ashmans), put much effort into the Sci-Fi weekend. He drove a lorry from Reading to Quainton containing a sound mixing desk for the Radio people to use. They couldn't decide whether to use it and wasted Colins' time and effort.

The Steam and Sci-Fi weekend was, I feel, a success. It certainly produced several thousands of pounds profit but more importantly perhaps, attracted about 400 visitors who had not been to Quainton before.

I interviewed about 80 people to find out if they had visited before and how they had found out about the event. About 30 of the sample had not heard of us or visited us before. The attendance was about 1100. A lot was due to the Dr Who magazine giving me a half page feature on the event and because the Daily Telegraph and Evening Standard also publicized it, we did well.
