You have a new Editor and a partly new Executive Committee and a retitled Board of Management. Exciting times. I look forward to being able to publish details of actions decided on and plans unveiled at the AGM and from the new Executive in due course. Those of you at the AGM on March 25th will by now have had time to reflect on the outcome. You will probably have differing views on how the proceedings went. I do not propose to comment on the AGM as The Chairman has written some excellent words on the consequences of the decisions taken and a report appears later. I, and I think many other regular working members, would be delighted if everybody who attended the AGM came to the site office once a week, and put as much effort into actually doing things as they did contributing to the debate. Most of the debate was viewed as ziolistic by many people I have spoken to. Some members wonder if a pyrrhic victory has been achieved by not releasing any assets. We will have to see. Many letters have been received about it, only a selection have been published, because of space constraints. After all that, membership is at an all time high, there is a good chance that a main line operator will follow the point connection and Coventry No. 1 is back and work has started on Beattie. Is it all bad news? NO. Lets see you all at Quainton enjoying yourself while at the same time helping out behind the scenes, or perhaps on Open Day duties and continuing to make a success out of our Society. Help the active members get the main line connection and then out on the main line. The rewards are not just financial, believe me. Finally, I have introduced myself elsewhere in the News for those that do not know me. |
