Selling Our Way to Success - Allan Baker

One of the most important ways in which we generate funds for our various restoration projects is through the Society 'Junction Shop' managed so competently by Joan Newstead. Joan's efforts in 1994 saw profits double from £5,200 to £10,700 so it is particularly pleasing to be able to report the opening at Easter of the 'Branch Line Shop'. Located in the coach body recently vacated by the King Society in the Up Yard, the 'Branch Line' stocks a good range of Society items and general souvenirs and gives us a much needed sales outlet at the heart of the Centre.

Joan, ably assisted by Ken and Miriam Ashman, Gwen Matthews and Ken Hall has spent many hours working on cleaning, repainting and fitting out the coach so that it is now a very attractive outlet for Society sales and we look forward to a further strong growth in sales in 1995.
