Easter Open Days - Anthea Hanscombe

First a big thank you to all the members who worked so hard during Working Week in March. There were many improvements to the site. Chris Tayler and gang put up new steps, a ramp and an awning for the entrance to the Terrapin. The down yard drive and parts of the up yard drive have been resurfaced with what looks like washed, fine ballast. The entrance from the field has been greatly improved and the Red Cross room has had a face lift which has changed it out of all recognition. Thanks to Duncan Battersby we have nice blue linoleum on the floor and by the time you read this there will be water laid on and a drain. No more bucket under the sink! Lots more has been done but I haven't noticed it all, yet!

The holiday was a success, we had slightly more visitors than last year due to masses of publicity and better weather, but nowhere near the numbers we used to get. Competition is too great for that so we must think hard of all the variations on a theme we can play. Start thinking now and let me know before July 15th when we have our meeting to decide on next year's entertainment.

We had the cartoon characters this time instead of the three bears and Goldilocks. The children love them and if we do the same for next year, please would more people volunteer to dress up.
