Grand Raffle 2007 / 2008 - Eric Miller
2007. We had been considering raising the price of a draw ticket for several years, but thought, "If it is not broken don't fix it". A very good maxim, but not apparently for raffles! The profit on the raffle went up by over 200%, which is a superb result. Thanks to all who bought tickets and those who added a further donation to the funds with them. 2008. Thanks to those who have already returned tickets to me; the total is already at £400, an excellent result for mid-March. All profits this time will be dedicated to building maintenance, very much a poor relation when it comes to fund allocations; and if you come to Quainton, you will see it is very much needed on some buildings. We could easily spend £50k on works and there would still be plenty left to do. Being very much a modest person (No comment please, Editor (as if)); I am trying to reach a total of over £3k on this year's raffle, which would give a profit of £2.5k. This will go nowhere near covering the cost of repointing the Buffer depot walls of the Museum, which in places is up to 1.5 inches out of rake! I shall be on site selling tickets, so please go to it. More tickets are available from the office if you need them. So let's be looking for a bumper year in all respects. |
