Quainton Stock List 1969 - 2nd Edition
Section Three - Miscellaneous Items etc Built at Derby Works, Midland Railway, in 1890. Capacity 1½ Tons. Purchased from British Railways in 1965. It arrived at Quainton on 4th April 1969. Built by D Whickham of Ware, Herts; works number 8263. This vehicle is typical of the large number of petrol trolleys employed by British Railways for use by permanent way gangs etc. The Trolley itself is powered by a small two-cylinder engine and can seat about eight people. It has a small four wheeled trailer which is used for carrying tools etc. Purchased by member Mr D Alexander and arrived at Quainton on 4th April 1969. Built by D Whickham of Ware, Herts; works number 9040. One of the many Railcars built by Whickham's, this one originally for Military use. Unlike the vehicle above this is a proper passenger carrying vehicle with an all over body and seats for approximately twelve people. It can be driven from either end and is powered by a Ford V-8 engine. Purchased by member Mr R Mellish and arrived at Quainton on 25th June 1969. |
