BR(WR) Modified Hall Class 4-6-0 No. 6989 Wightwick Hall

Wightwick Hall has run at some events at Quainton. The most noteworthy was when we were asked by Steam Railway to display a Dai Woodham headboard on the 30th August 2019, with John Woodham present representing the Woodham family. 6989 departed for the Battlefield Line for running in and hire, arriving there on the 15th October 2019, returning to Quainton in January 2020. Wightwick Hall then returned to the Battlefield Line on the 27 May 2021 for an extended hire to early 2022. Whilst at the Battlefield Line 6989 has ran a D-Day Special on the 5 June 2021. Following running in at Shackerstone some remedial work has been undertaken on Wightwick Hall. This has included weighing the loco
and replacing one set of springs, as well as replacing shock absorption rubber and stainless steel suspension fixing washers. The steam pressure gauge was
repaired and a spare gauge procured. The the regulator shaft has been adjusted and repaired, and a coupling rod bush replaced to take up excess end play.
