Sales and Refreshment Building
In Quainton News No. 32 we featured an article with a plan showing a proposed building for which an appeal was launched to raise £5000 for its construction. Sad to say the response has been so poor that the fund now stands at just over £1600 and those who made donations are being offered their money back. It is a great pity that we cannot make progress on this building while we have the labour available but the Executive Committee have decided that the priority for cash should be to provide shelter for our priceless treasures and to obtain for posterity any remaining examples of the steam age such as the wheeldrop and the turntable. It is with much regret that this decision has been taken and we ask all those stalwarts of the Catering Department to understand how very difficult it has been to take this course of action. To the ladies who have been so good to us in past seasons in providing refreshments we say, most sincerely, 'Thank you'. |
