The regular gang continue on the Gresley BTK, with work being concentrated on the interior. Rexene has been applied to the remaining surfaces and two compartments have been fitted with new seats, the remaining compartments will be so fitted when further finance is available. The brake cylinders are also being overhauled. Externally the coach is to be revarnished this year. The GC is to be repainted this year and will be used in the passenger train when required. Two compartments have now been completely restored to as near original LCDR condition as possible. The work has included fitting luggage racks, picture frames and, of course, upholstered seats. To add to that final touch it is hoped to manufacture and fit some dummy gas light fittings. The LNW Diner will again see use this season on special occasions. The BS has received routine maintenance and is ready for the coming season. It is hoped to repaint this vehicle during the year. The Mk 1 SK requires fairly extensive work to the window frames and doors and a costing exercise is currently underway. The other Gresley coach is to be completely stripped this year to assess the amount of re-building that will be required. The MR box van continues to be worked on, with the replacement of rotten wood. It is hoped to have the van ready for the Summer. |
